This is the lowest price ever on this seat. I bought these a couple of months ago at a higher price. My kids love these seats and find them to be very comfortable. Additionally it has a "secret" hidden compartment for storage that they love to hide their toys in.

NOTE: This booster seat has a latch system to keep the seat tethered in its proper position inside the vehicle when not being used by a child.

The back can be removed as kids grow taller

There is one very "significant" difference between the two. This one has a latch system (look at the little strap in the front of the seat in the picture). Therefore, this booster seat can be left attached in the car when the child is not using it and more importantly, when the child tries to get in by himself/herself, the seat will not move or misalign.

Ofcourse, some may not care about this, but think about having to lock back the seatbelt on the booster when a child gets out just to keep it tethered. (not to mention the danger if the seat goes flying when unoccupied in case of an accident because its sitting untethered)

Some other differences:
1.The weight of this seat is 1.1 lbs heavier than the other you mentioned.
2. The posture of the two seats is very different, especially where the child's knees would be.
3. Judging by the exponentially larger number of mostly 5 star reviews (2276 total) on Amazon, this seat seems to be much more popular amongst parents.

Finally, I prefer the brighter color for my kids and am willing to pay $13 extra for it over the other one...

For safety of your kids (and yours/spouse's when driving without the seat occupied), I would suggest spend those extra $14 Smilie ... and get a seat with the latch system.... or not...

Someone mentioned in the order thread that the latch system on these don't serve a safety purpose

Yes, not for the kid to protect in an accident, but it will definitely save the driver/passengers if the booster goes flying forward incase of a collision when unoccupied by a child. As far as child safety is concerned, it will only help to avoid getting in/out accidents with the younger kids by keeping the seat firmly in place.

Anyhow, its the parents' decision to buy this or the other seat - saw a great price so I shared it, although I have already bought mine at a higher price last month.

Thanks for sharing! The LATCH system is exactly what we needed for our son in our main vehicle and this seems to be a great price. We already have the slightly less expensive version without and it's a pain to keep it in place.

So the latch system is a way to lock the seat base in place tightly?

I have a cheaper evenflo without the secure latch system (got two that do in the other two cars and the seats are affixed) and it's next to impossible to sure it as there's always some wiggle room for the base. I think I've only secured it properly once but it was a pain on our two-door Accord.

Edit: actually I was totally wrong. Both times I paid almost $50. I guess I had the non latch one in mind when I decided against it. And yes the latch one is much better.
"I've bought the one with the latch for $30 before. It somewhat regularly goes for that price. In fact I've bought two at two different times for that price so this isn't a good deal."

Is Graco normally excluded from the 30% off coupons at Kohl's? With $10 off $30 from Discover and 30% off, this is about the same price and would let you choose something other than orange?
