Because I can serve my library to friends, access on a variety of devices, etc. It becomes your own personal Netflix and is much better organized and more convenient than a USB stick and VLC

* If you play PC games it is 100% the best streaming box on the market, and even if you don't its still worth it I think.
* It runs a skinned Android TV yeah,
* I stream Fifa 18 to my Shield and its full 4k i get around 80 FPS,
* You can install most apps from the google play store yes. The apps which don't have specific * AndroidTV apks you can sideload from apkmirror just like a regular Android device.

* Controllers - yes. literally anything bluetooth or USB even. I have BT n64 controllers, an xbone controller, bluetooth headphones, bluetooth keyboard, bluetooth mouse, plus nvidia controllers all paired.
- The only problem I've had controller wise is when using the Microsoft 360 controller bluetooth wireless dongle. When you plug it into the shield, all four controllers are registered as a single player. However, I got past that with games like rocket league and fifa by plugging the wireless adapter into my PC, and it separated the controllers to different players, and you can still use the nvidia shield controller via BT as player 1

Gross. When I use Plex I just fire up the app and my 900+ movies are there. I don't have to go to my PC, copy files to thumbdrive then bring them to the TV every time I want to watch something. And that goes for all my TVs and my family's TVs.... And it tracks my watched status, among other things. A thumb drive isn't even in the running as a consideration .

Nice deal, props. Since I don't game, already have a good smart TV with all the apps I want, and have Google Homes and SmartThings, I really don't need this, right?

This deal is going front page. It sucks for me because I already bought it last week from best buy. But otherwise I have been enjoying using this device.
