I'd probably go for SmartThings @ $50 myself but this is the cheapest that I've seen the Wink Hub 2:

As a kind of weak general analogy, Wink = Apple, SmartThings = Android.

Wink has a nicer interface, a little easier, but more limited as far as specific devices that can be added. Arguably better hardware as far as the hub itself and radios. Management always has been kinda shaky and still is at this point.

SmartThings is a lot more flexible as far as device options, not as nice of an interface, a little more complicated but not too bad. Has Samsung behind it.

Coming from a 1st gen, I'm really happy with 2nd gen upgrade. It's been very stable and responds much faster to requests.

I'm leaning towards the wink system for a combination of diy home security and entry level home automation. Thanks

Does this require internet for 90% of functions to work like SmartThings? This has been what has kept me off the platform.

My understanding is wink uses the internet for everything. Smartthings does not(it really depends on the devices you use)

Wink has more of a delay then smartthings because of this.

I went with smartthings although I really leaned towards winks interface and because of lutron integration.

In the end I am glad I did because of the open-source integration with smartthings. If a device is not supported, odds are there is a user written device handler that will make it work.

Great price. I have both Wink and ST, some of my experiences.
Wink supports the Schlage Lock better (the one on front page days earlier). Wink's new Lookout function is great and getting better too. Of course it's quite limited comparing to ST, but if you just want to do basic automation and DIY security system, I'd recommend Wink over ST especially if you are new to home automation and Z-wave.

I'm guessing that was the v1, v2 is generally substantially more expensive
