I would say you are the "idiot" since the KitchenAid is a MIXER designed to have attachments added to it like this. Not to say this is a great tool, but you don't really know what you are talking about.

The reviews kept me away from this thing. The seal on it seems to eventually and randomly break and the gel inside leaks out. Ultimately can't you just mix the ice cream in the steel bowl and then freeze in a seperate container? I get that it will take much longer though.

Thats what I do, I freeze the bowl for 12 hours in the freezer, make the ice cream and scoop it out into another container to freeze. I think the instructions said to not freeze the ice cream in the freezer bowl.

I think this is compatible with all the models. It's got the twist socket thing on the bottom and the arms on the sides for the bigger models. I have one and used it many times. No issues. Just treat it gently. Mainly stopped using it because my freezer is too full!

I have one of these, I have not been able to get ice cream to harden enough with this, even with 24 hours in the freezer beforehand.

Great way to destroy your blender

Just because you can do something, does not mean you should do it

As someone mentioned earlier, Kitchenaid Mixer is designed to work with attachments. However the product mentioned in the op is worth buying it is a different story.

There are a bunch of recipes included in box. French vanilla is great. Stir in some crumbled Oreos at the end. This thing is great, but it's been $50 for the last 10 years, so not super slick imo
