You might want to try looking through your 18-55 zoomed to 50mm at things you like to photograph, to see how you like the focal length. 50mm is a super useful focal length on full frame cameras, but many people prefer the 35mm 1.8g on dx cameras (which is effectively the same field of view as a 50mm on a full frame camera).

Good deals. I am looking for a better deal on Nikon 50mm F/1.8D for my full frame D750. Couldn't find one so far. I am seeing the deal on F/1.8G only.

The 1.8G works on both full frame and crop. It's not a DX lens.

Correct, but D750 has a bult-in focus motor in the body, so, I don't want to pay extra for the 1.8G. 1.8D should be enough for me.

You won't get the d750 full potential by going for a cheaper lens.

G version is sharper than D. Why settle for less optical quality?

I heard the image quality difference between the D and the G version is very little. Is that difference worth the cost to upgrade?

Most people say if you've got the D, it's not worth it to swap to the G, but if buying your first 50mm 1.8, get the G.

Can someone help a camera noob out. I have a D5000 with the lens that came in the box which is a DX 18-55mm. How different would the Nikon 50mm f/1.8G AF-S NIKKOR Lens be? Is that compatible with my camera?

18-55mm lens that came with your camera is a kit lens and it is far inferior compared to the 50mm f1.8 prime lens. The image quality of the prime lens is much better. Also, it can be used in low light situations because of its wide aperture. The bokeh effect / background blur is better with the prime lens.
