Seems very slick, almost makes me wish I would have held off on the Onkyo from best buy, but it's already all setup.

If it was the Onkyo TX-NR656 you got for $250, that's a better receiver. The Sony doesn't do upscaling, has no networking, no support for Atmos or DTS X, less HDMI inputs and only one HDMI output.

I have the new Xbox One X with native as well as upscaling 4K. I have it hooked to an older Onkyo (TX SR605) out to 1080 TV. Does anyone know if the 4k upscaling provided by the Xbox gets through the Onkyo to the TV or does the Onkyo drop the signal back down?

Can this simulate 7.1 with only 5 speakers like the network version?

Anything better about this than the avrs530bt denon from frys that was about the same price ($127 but plus tax)?

Seems to have most the same features.

Since the tv is only 1080p, it doesn't matter. But if you buy a 4k set, you will want to run the video straight to the tv, then arc to the older avr. The avr will degrade the video signal.

My dad's receiver died on him a while ago. Is this the cheapest 5.1 available essentially?

Here is a side by side for the denon frys deal from last Sunday. Trying to decide if the Sony is worth $21 more.

I've been looking for an inexpensive receiver ($100-200) to replace my 12 year old Sony that I mostly just watch Netflix and Blu-ray once in a while. I'm mainly wanting the Bluetooth feature. Is about the best deal I'll find for a receiver on this class?

I paid 199 on amazon earlier this year. Great receiver, does a nice job for what i need. Was at 399, then dropped for a few days so i jumped on it.

Excellent deal.

Sure the Onkyo is better, but only if you want all of that. If not, this is a great deal.

Was reading up on this and it seems like a nice unit, but durability may be an issue. I'm not sure if squaretrade can be purchased with this or not, but for a few bucks, probably worth it (if you can).
