The Essential deal was a lease. I just paid off the lease ($90 up front for 18 months at $5/month) and then purchased the device for $30 (PPO Purchase Price Option). Total after everything came to about $170.

I'm going to see if this deal is via Bill Credits or not. If it's bill credits, then it'll cost full price if you try to buy it up front.

EDIT: This deal is only for Adding a Line.

EDIT2: This is via Bill Credits. I just checked. Deal is pretty bad, unless you plan on switching to Sprint and keeping the device for 18 months, or upgrading after a year.

This is very bad deal.

I went through best buy until I see lease aggrement (last step before confirm payment). This is same if you do via Sprint as well.

Sprint 18month lease
15.62/mo (After 15.63/mo bill credit for 18mo)
So the lease document will have $31.xx/mo for 18mo

If you try to do this like a Essential deal it wont work benificial to you since this will have final device purchase price as $288

So 31.2*18 + 288 will be your final cost if you try to replicate this like Essential phone
