We have 2 of these, and one of them stopped powering up. They said no worry, no questions asked... Bullshit. We had to jump through so many hoops to get them to even consider replacing. Then, we had to send it back first in order for them to send a replacement. We sent it 2 weeks ago and still no words.

I'm not a huge fan of the Amazon Free Time app, which is the centerpiece of this bundle (otherwise it's a 50 dollar tablet with a foam bumper case). With Amazon's Free Time it's very difficult to filter apps - it's subtractive rather than additive.

You can set an age range but it just blasts out a hundred or more apps that are mostly crap and/or not very educational. Then you have to remove what you don't want from the list. That's what I mean by subtractive vs. additive. I'd much rather pick a handful of high quality educational apps.

Otherwise, the time limits and stuff work fairly well

Rep'd! Thanks. Got the two deal, one for daughter and one for son, which ended up in an extra $10 savings ($169 +tx for two).

Oh, and used Discover card for an extra 5% in cash back!

Does anyone have any experience with these? Reviews on Amazon are either love/hate. Are they slow? Intuitive for kids to use?

And a 2 year replacement on it. My kids break every tablet they touch

"All new" is the equivalent of "Natural" in the food industry. 100% meaningless.

My kids have a set from 2 years ago. They work pretty well. Not as great as an iPad, but you also get two tablets for less than an iPad. The freetime stuff is cool because it is easy for the kids to add and play new games. All for free. No DLC or ads or anything. They have been well worth the money I paid even if they aren't the best all the time.

I just bought the new 8" ones. For the price of one year of Freetim, I got two new tablets!

From my experience they are not slow at all, though I have no use for the "kids" side of it.

This is basically a full on 32gb Fire HD 8 without any "special offers," free padded case, and 2 year no questions asked warranty.

I bought a regular Fire HD 8 and the next day this sale came up (like a month ago I think) so I returned the unopened one and ordered this instead. Like it a lot so far and this replaced an old iPad mini.

Maybe someone else with kids can chime in on the other part of your question.

Please elaborate on the "hoops" you had to jump through. My experience with most cs reps is if ask you to try this and that, just answer I have and it is not working. It is part of their job to make sure you have try everything you can at home before initiating a replacement.
