Newegg ain't no saint dude. Here you are worshiping Newegg in one breath while criticizing Amazon and Costco worshipers in the next. Wow.

Who cares who had it cheap first. I'm just happy to save some money. Don't need a lecture on which money-sucking corporation I decide to give my money too.

I ended buying one from Newegg because of no tax and 3% cash back from e-b-a-t-e-s (was 1%). Smilie This will be my sixth C1 that's in production and this will replace a FI9821P that's being used outdoors (enclosed porch). So far, I have had good results with the C1's overall. Just make sure you keep up with the firmware updates and I use TinyCam Monitor PRO.

I like these C1s. They don't show a ton of detail, but enough to know that no one is in my garage or driveway. Love the wide angle, too.

Have one we use as a baby monitor and it's worked well. I want another, but in white for the living room.

Most likely the only reason Amazon has it for $35.99 is because Newegg had it for $35.99 first and one of Amazon's bots found and auto-matched it. The sad part is that Amazon gets credit for the deal here when it should be Newegg, but Amazon is much like Costco, Apple, Bose, and Ikea to some people... a religious experience and a place of worship where the name and vibe matter more than anything else (such as price).

Ditto... Bought 2 more, from NewEgg for the same reasons including qualifying for 2-day shoprunner shipping. Once they arrive i will make sure they have the latest firmware, which will bring my total up to 5 Big Grin They are very nice for what they are.

BTW, for those with Synology units, most come with a license for 2 cameras which work fine with the C1s. An inexpensive way to dip your toes in the water. For Android, I use OWLR, which is much better than the associated Foscam app. I had mixed results with Tiny Cam Pro, although it might be time to revisit. As others have mentioned, Blue Iris is another option.

The more others push Amazon (like Walmart, NewEgg, Costco and even Amazon third parties), the better off we will be. At the same price point, the tax savings can be substantial (as well as CB sites) Big Grin.

It was hardly worshipping Newegg. I know they have some pretty restrictive return policies now and they are not my favorite. I mostly only buy FAR stuff from them. I was saying that everyone treats Amazon like they are so great when some of us know that Amazon mostly pricematches other stores, so I think the store that was leading with the lowest price should be mentioned. We don't want people to start thinking that Amazon has a lot of good deals on their own free will. They only have deals being dragged "kicking and screaming". :-)

That's right. I hope the smaller stores keep "pushing" Amazon's roving pricematching bots. My only thing is that once someone posts an Amazon deal, they should peek around to see if they can find the source of that deal (usually one of the other major retailers) and mention it too.

Speaking of Synology, have you come across any deals on the Surveillance Station licenses? I am using the two licenses that came with mine but would love to get a few more licenses. I do have Blue Iris but don't have the spare PC to run it on.

Hi 1$

Perhaps getting a decent i5/i7 PC would be the way to go and run BI, the folks I hear using it really like it a LOT.

for me:

Amazon = tax

Newegg = no tax
