picked this up, been eyeing the options out there. Question, if you have drapes that lay on the floor would that be a danger of being sucked up?

In my experience, I would get the beater brush instead of the "combo" brush. The beater brush never tangles with hair, but the brush with bristles does.

That said, compared to the original Neato, this bot adds a Li-ion battery, a side brush, and ability to program via app instead of on the robot. That's not worth over twice the amount to me. Perhaps those features are worth an extra $100, but not $250.

How do they differ? Seems they both are Li-ion, app connected, side brush, etc, etc.

I believe App has mapping details to show progress and historical where the D5 does not.

I think this model is the only one left that comes with both brushes. With the newer model you now have to find and order the Blade Brush. The Blade Brush works best for me.

I am waiting until the D7 hits the stores to make a decision

Would either of you happen to know what the differences/improvements that the D7 has compared to this?

The D7 has virtual no go lines, which when done correctly is going to make vacuum robots an everyday appliances, like a dishwasher. Too soon to tell if Neato got it right

Notice in the video, it is just straight lines not circles around items you want to protect

Look for deep discounts on the D3 that have to be cleared out

Thanks. The MSRP of the D7 looks like it will be $800. That sounds like a great feature, but I suppose I could do without it to save $350.

The D3 may be as low as 99. Last time there was a product change I posted a deal for Neato for 50

Whatever you do, have a plan for when the Neato breaks, because it will break.

I guess I'll pay with AMEX to get another year tacked on to the warranty.
