How does the SB12 compare with R-112SW? Are they both on par?
For one, the SB12 is a sealed box, while the R-112SW is a ported box. Just taking the subs against each other (no cost considerations), the SB12 is a better sub

Ordered mine as soon as I got the newsletter. Doesn't matter to me so much that the "NSD" model is few years old...still performs great from a great company. 5 year warranty to boot. Just because it's an NSD shouldn't dissuade you from buying one because it's not a S(P)B1000 or S(P)B2000 model.

They've been discontinued for several years now- Likely since these are in the outlet they're trade-ins or refurbed from warranty subs they replaced.

That said- the PB12 for $499 is a solid deal... not at good as the Klipsch R-115 for $400-something from Frys but that's few and far between, but certainly better than anything else within a couple hundred bucks of its price.

The PB12 IIRC is about 2-3db quieter than the PB2000, which runs $800... and it's definitely a step up from the PB1000 which is the "current" ported sub SVS gets $499 for new.
These are in the outlet page (I'm guessing because it's a deal), however are not listed as outlet subs. I can't imagine these are trade ins or refurbs, they are pretty good about explicitly listing that if it is the case

Yeah, but it $100 worth more the SB12 over R-112SW? I was just reading specs and it looks like R-112SW has 600W vs. 400W for SB12. I don't understand technicality of wattage here so no idea if higher is better

Klipsch has definitely upped their sub game, I haven't heard these in the same room so I can't directly compare in that sense (although I was more impressed with SB12). Someone else in here may be able to more directly compare

Had the sb2000 but returned it for the pb2000 and eventually got another pb2000 for dual setup. If movies are you're primary focus the ported sub is definitely better...if music is your focus the sealed is faster and better. By no means does that mean the ported is not good for music and the sealed not good for movies. I will say those thinking of the ported....i hope you have the space for it.

Yes it is. 600 is the peak watt and 400 is the average watt, comparing the wrong number.

Bought 2 of the SB-12's on November 24, 2015 to use both in my music room (20' X 30') and got them at this same price of $399, no tax free ship. Can say they are great for the price an definitely sealed if doing straight music. As stated in the video posted by another user here in the thread, ported can "backfire" (or bleed) the bass on music an you have it really cranked up (meaning the bass can "extend" into the next note or two due to the port(s). The sealed basically stops the bass "on a dime" where it should to replicate the music portion better. I play drums and you can actually tell a difference.

Nice simple explanations...this helps know the difference between ported and non-ported subs.

Ok. So whose avg watt is higher among the two? I couldn't find peak watt for SB12 mentioned in specs

Outlet is all used/refurb stuff.

Says so right at the top of the outlet page.

Go to their new products page.

They don't sell these subs.

And haven't for years.

So I don't see how they COULD be new, since they stopped making/selling new ones years ago.
You think they could just be manu. them again just for this event? Kinda like what they do in the TV industry for stripped down BF TV deals.

I would think if they were returns or refurbs they would let you know. Even still they have the same 5 year warranty.

Easy, they made it before, they can make it again??
Speculation is hardly helpful.
When they were on closeout before, they were also listed under outlet and not the new section.
Now they are not labeled "outlet" while everything else in the outlet is, instead they are under the heading "Black Friday Special."
I guarantee you these are new.

Not to mention all the resellers are selling it as new.

Is it that hard to google? It's right there under tech specs
