Easy, they made it before, they can make it again??
Speculation is hardly helpful.
When they were on closeout before, they were also listed under outlet and not the new section.
Now they are not labeled "outlet" while everything else in the outlet is, instead they are under the heading "Black Friday Special."
I guarantee you these are new.

Not to mention all the resellers are selling it as new.

Is it that hard to google? It's right there under tech specs

Exactly, SVS is VERY good about listing items as "outlet"

Outlet is all used/refurb stuff.

Says so right at the top of the outlet page.
Clearly not. As I mentioned before, SVS is very good about listing outlet stuff. These are not listed as outlet. And proof from the other member

Looks like the SB12-NSD is the same price on Amazon from a 3rd party seller. Not sure if worth forgoing 5% cashback to buy directly from SVS or not.
The only benefit buying direct from svs is you get the free trial/return feature. I bought my first sub from them (pc12-plus) and ended up returning it as it want enough umph. I then bought an open box (looked brand new) pb16-ultra from Amazon third party, got it MUCH, MUCH cheaper than even svs outlet... And now ordering another from Amazon. You are still protected with Amazon, and the third parties I bought from have actual brick and mortar stores, legit. So if you're unsure if you will keep, could be worth spending a but more svs direct, otherwise, Amazon third party has been great and saved me plenty. So long as the third party is an authorized dealer, you still get ALL the other ownership benefits and perks, minus free trial period, as if you bought direct from svs.

This is key right here, "So long as the third party is an authorized dealer, you still get ALL the other ownership benefits and perks, minus free trial period, as if you bought direct from svs." Although I'm smart enough to know this like you...you knowwww there are some people out there that'll buy from 3rd party not know that aren't legit and complain off a cliff when shit goes sideways.

Should I get a pair of pb12 or one used ultra?
There's a ton of debate on that very question. If you have a challenging space (large, multiple seating positions, accoustic issues, ect), duals may help out. That said, the ultra will dig deeper and stronger. You may have to place the single in a less than ideal placement to get the room coverage/seating positions.... But if you only have a few seating positions close together this won't be a big deal. It's a very personal choice with many variables... But for me, I would go with the best single sub you can afford at the moment, enjoy it for a while, and then mate it with another down the road. If you but 2 smaller ones, you have no real good upgrade path of you decide you want the "deep" hz bass down the road.

Then perhaps they should remove the part where it says exactly what I told you it said?

Our outlet specials offer huge savings on gently-used speakers and subwoofers. All outlet special products are guaranteed to look and perform like-new (unless otherwise specified below)

The only time they "note" anything is when the speaker is physically damaged- But the entire page is used stuff per their own webpage.

Certainly their own page could be wrong- but I wasn't "speculating" I was directly quoting what they themselves say about things in the outlet.

It'd be weird if they started making this sub again after years of it being discontinued- especially weird when they're selling it for the same price as the newer PB1000 which doesn't perform as well

Fortunately, the sellers state in the Amazon listing if they are authorized, and you can then verify legitimacy through svs. But yes, I'm sure some might not research the vendor, "fools and their money", as the saying goes 😊

After reading up on the rest of this thread, I'm torn about what to buy. I was interested in the HSU VTF-3 15" sub which they have knocked $40 bucks off now for $759.

I'm building a home theatre/football room in my basement and this will be my only sub and will go behind my AT screen. The overall room is 25 ft long (to the back deepest part behind the screen) to the back of the room behind the rear seat row. and 10.5' wide.

Ceiling will be at 8'4".

My LCR are the Polk Signature Series S60s and S35. My surrounds and ceiling atmos will be the HTD HD line of ceiling and inwall speakers with 6.5" drivers all powered by a X4300h denon.

Money is getting tight right now with 2 small kids in daycare and this room build seeming to never end.

Should I grab this PB12 deal, or try to push for the VTF3 15?
I will not listen crazy loud. I don't like it. I do want to be able to "feel" the base on explosions and big moments.

What do ya think? $499 is tempting, and for those that buy the FRYs klipse deal, my nearest of a 3 hour drive each way.

Thanks for any input.

So this is kinda interesting-

Found their 2016 BF ad.

Where they said they had a limited number of NEW manufacture SB12s for a limited time/amount, and once they were sold out they were gone.

https://www.svsound.com/blogs/new...-low-price

This year- they're back again for a limited time.

So the 12 NSD subs are apparently the SVS version of the McRib

On the bright side it does support the idea they're new and the header in the Outlet just wasn't updated to consider that.

You're in a space a bit north of 2000 cubic feet- which is medium sized.. your problem is you apparently only have one space to put the sub.

Placement can make a huge difference.

With the right placement a PB12 ought to be fine in a space that size... the Hsu would be noticeably better though.

Given you're limiting your placement so significantly I'd have to think about getting the bigger sub to try and make up for it a bit.

That said- you could always get the PB12 with the free 45 day trial and see how you like it... if it's good enough call it a day- if not send it back for free and get the Hsu (though you risk missing the $40 sale on the Hsu)

Already mentioned a few times- the PB12 > PB1000.

The PB12 was replaced by the PB2000 in the lineup when it was discontinued 3 or so years ago.

I like your thoughts. My issue there is I'm still building the room. I'll be lucky to be testing speakers in 3 months. I've just been waiting for black friday, or this week as it is, in hopes of catching someone on sale. $40 isn't enough to really matter either way., but this sub for $500 shipped free, vs possibly 950 shipped for the HSU is a BIG difference to me.

Also thought, if I buy this sub, and it works ok, where would it put me in sound quality if next black friday I bought another one, or a PB2000 to pair it with. Would that start to get me the same type of sound output as one HSU VTF-3?

Also, theres the possibility that this one sub feels super nice to me and I never bother again.
