So the 12 NSD subs are apparently the SVS version of the McRib
I lol'd great analogy.

You're in a space a bit north of 2000 cubic feet- which is medium sized.. your problem is you apparently only have one space to put the sub.

Placement can make a huge difference.

With the right placement a PB12 ought to be fine in a space that size... the Hsu would be noticeably better though.

Given you're limiting your placement so significantly I'd have to think about getting the bigger sub to try and make up for it a bit.

That said- you could always get the PB12 with the free 45 day trial and see how you like it... if it's good enough call it a day- if not send it back for free and get the Hsu (though you risk missing the $40 sale on the Hsu)
+1 on this. This is the way to go.

Already mentioned a few times- the PB12 > PB1000.

The PB12 was replaced by the PB2000 in the lineup when it was discontinued 3 or so years ago.
Thanks. Another question, will PB12 be good for 14'*12'*8~1400 cft HT Room ?

This is a great deal for sure...I just decided to buy one to try with my setup as a possible 3rd (or maybe cancel my order for a second larger sub...who knows, this may work out just as well!)...just really can't beat the easy return policy! And, if you are a veteran OR a returning customer, you get a 5% discount.

How is the Prime Tower Surround System with 2 satellites that is also on the website, regarding quality and price?
It's outstanding but you will want a center and sub.

Edit: thought you were asking about the bookshelfs. recommendation stands tho.

Yes

Also yes.

I've got a PB2000 (which replaced the PB12, and is about 2-3db more powerful) in a room only a little bigger than that and it's fantastic.

I like your thoughts. My issue there is I'm still building the room. I'll be lucky to be testing speakers in 3 months. I've just been waiting for black friday, or this week as it is, in hopes of catching someone on sale. $40 isn't enough to really matter either way., but this sub for $500 shipped free, vs possibly 950 shipped for the HSU is a BIG difference to me.

Also thought, if I buy this sub, and it works ok, where would it put me in sound quality if next black friday I bought another one, or a PB2000 to pair it with. Would that start to get me the same type of sound output as one HSU VTF-3?

Also, theres the possibility that this one sub feels super nice to me and I never bother again.

As to two of these versus one Hsu... the Hsu is a significantly more powerful sub than the PB2000, let alone the PB12... it's more comparable the the PB12Plus from SVS...

Two PB12s might equal one Hsu VTF-3 Mk5- maybe- depending on placement and room....

Your issue with adding a second one later is- you may not be able to get one.

You could add a second different sub- but I'd want to insure I had an AV receiver that could independently tune 2 different in that case (the highest level of Audessy does this for example).

And even then if it ends up being a PB2K you'd end up spending hundreds more than if you just got the Hsu to start with... (though the other side of that risk is you might save hundreds if you are happy with just the single PB12)

I don't think I saw it already mentioned in the thread anywhere:

If you are a previous SVS customer, you should qualify for a 5% discount on your purchase.

I recently picked up a Ultra Center speaker to go with my Ultra Bookshelfs and SB2000 and when I was asking questions via chat about the "light scratches" on the center, I was generated a 5% off code for being a loyal customer.

(2)Ultra Bookshelf, (1) Ultra Center, (1)SB2000 all in Piano Black, were bought from the outlet with "scratches" at a great discount and all have arrived flawless with the same perks as buying new.

Guys, these are freshly manufactured subwoofers. They are discontinued models, but a similar performance class to the SVS 2000 series. The guy who said it is our version of the McRib is pretty much right on the $$. They are great subwoofers and this is a great deal!! -Gary from SVS

I just ordered a Rythmik LV12R this morning for $549. Should I cancel that order and get this instead? I have a ~1300cu ft dedicated theater room.

Yeah, there's no way to give a good answer to this, too many variables. If you don't have the space built, I'd hold off on the sub. You really need to be able to audition it where it will play, and how you will play it. I understand wanting to grab a bargain, but if you're asking "what will be best for my purpose", no one can answer that. You just have to try a few options and see.
The best anyone can say is that all the subs you've asked about are great subs with great "potential". How much that potential translates into performance in your future room is the unknown.
I know it's not the answer you want...hell, I've been struggling with figuring out my sub situation, and would LOVE if someone could give me the magic answer too... All that can be said is these are all quality products, and with each, the more you spend, the more "potential" you will be aquiring... How that translates in your room, no one will knock the answer to that. About the only thing I could add to this is that my opinion is to spend as much as you feel comfortable with on one, enjoy it, and decide if you need to upgrade for the road. Just stick with the same brand, and you'll be fine with a different model (mix this sub with a pb2000 down the road... or get a pb12 and mix a pb1000, etc, and it will work out just fine)

Why are you thinking of upgrading... Do you feel you are missing something? If so, then you answered your own question. You'll be getting more low-end, but if you're listing to get Rock, demand quick response, and tightness, you may not want to go pb. That said, the svs ported are still plenty accurate... But I'd still ask "why" are you thinking about the upgrade. Also, if you're looking for considerably more db, you may just look at moving to bigger single sub... Lots of factors

Yes.

The LV12R is a very good 550-600 dollar sub.

This thing was a good $800 sub when it was in new production (and barring that R115 deal you'd need still need to spend more than that Rythmik costs to beat it)

If you use it for HT I certainly think so for the deeper extension if nothing else

If it's mainly for music then probably not unless it's a pretty large space

I'm not sure townhomes have sub outputs laugh out loud

Seriously though- for what?

What content? In what size space? With what other equipment?

Is the VTF-2 MK5 a better buy at $500?
