Looks like a decent price for an "everyday" laptop for web browsing and running word doc.

Yes. It's mediocare. Or low level. But if you have Amex extended warranty then it's fine.

I had Asus and it was terrible. Good experience with HP. How does Acer compare?

If you buy from Amex or any CC. They often have card member benefit called EXTENDED manufacturers warranty. Which kicks in after 1yr of original warranty. So, if you run into any problems (which you would Wink) then call your CC (credit card) and they'll fix it for you at no cost. Now, based on my past experience, they usually just refund the money as it's not very high in price. If your device is high price then they reimburse the repair cost. It's little difficult with other CC (visa master) but Amex and discover makes it easy and is very generous about it.

I had an acer aspire
Lasted 6 years til the mobo died. Customer support is outsourced and your ticket will get shifted around to different people but if you have to send it in turn around was about a week.

Not this laptop but any recommendations for a discrete/dedicated graphics card laptop for photo editing (run Photoshop and Lightroom at the same time). Would the integrated Intel Graphics 520/620 run OK for those applications? Thanks.

Brand doesn't really matter. It's a 300 dollar PC, so it will be on par with every other 250-400 dollar PC out there.

any variations in your experience are just plain luck.

Agreed. Worth the upgrade. Assuming there isn't a better bf deal on the op computer. Last year there was a $250 i3 at bb this time of year
