Unless you're really OCD about that type of thing, I would actually highly recommend buying knives individually. There are really only a few you need to properly cut/prep anything you could imagine. Sets generally mean you are wasting money on knives you really don't need instead of putting that money into quality knives you do need. My opinion, of course.

I just received this knife. Very impressed.
In addition to the difference on the handle, there are 2 other places that Pro is different from Four Star.
1) The shape of the bolster: Four Star has a full bolster - which makes 5/8" of the blade useless. And the full bolster also makes it hard to sharpen. Pro has a half bolster. The entire length of the blade can be used and sharpened. For people who like to place their thumbs on knives, Pro would be a lot easier to hold.
2) The shape of the blade: The blade of the Pro is curved more (with bigger belly) than Four Star. In another word the back of Pro is more straight than Four Star. This makes it easier to rock the knife. This also makes the actually cutting surface longer for Pro.

I compared my 8" Four Star chef knife with 7" Pro chef knife side by side. Due to half bolster and more curved blade, I can see that 7" Pro is only slightly shorter on the actual cutting surface than 8" Four Star.

For people who like Four Star knives (great knives nonetheless), Cutlery and More also has 8-pc Four Star set for $149.99 + 20% off = $120. http://www.cutleryandmore.com/zwi...70#reviews
My 8" Four Star chef knife was from the same set.

It really doesn't. Both are twin blades made in germany. Only noticeable difference is 4 star has a plastic molded handle. Pro is a traditional handle. Its all about what feels best in your hand.

Might as well pick up a paring knife, instead of paying for shipping.

I just picked this knife up at a local cutlery store for the same price a week ago (was their grand opening, so one-day special). Crazy that this is available online for the same price. It's a steal for $40. Heavy knife, comfortable to hold, razor sharp out of the box.

We have a hodge podge of knives that I hate and I'm so tempted to get this, but I'm thinking I'll wait to get a complete set this BF. Still this knive looks amazing, but I'd just be adding to the hodge podge.
