Any chance of these going lower on BF? I wouldn't think so. Thinking of picking up a second for the bedroom.

Wait, this new version has no MicroSD card slot does it? So can you expand the OS onto a USB thumb drive via one of the USB ports?

EDIT: Yes, it looks like you can: LINK [geforce.com]

BUT! The non-Pro version (this version) does not have an IR receiver and since I ONLY use Logitech Harmony remotes to control my A/V gear thats a deal breaker for me.

EDIT AGAIN: BUT it does appear that a Flirc (LINK [amazon.com]) will work with the Shield TV and that will give IR remote support. Now I wonder what profile would be used in the Harmony software to make that work?!

Does your harmony remote offer Bluetooth? Ive read you can use Bluetooth instead of IR with the harmony remotes.

Debating if I want to return my pro and get the basic version as I only use it as a plex client.

I ordered one from Best Buy to lock in the price while I research if the basic version will work for me

Someone just asked will the basic one work for them. The only caveat I read is if you use plex and have a massive music and movie collection its possible to crash plex on the basic version because the metadata grows so large it can fill the 16gb internal memory.

I believe the memory limitation of the base model would only be a problem if you run Plex Server on it. If used only as a Plex client, it should not be a problem as it's not storing metadata, the server is. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I run Plex server on the Pro model, and use a Roku as a Plex client, which has way less resources than the Base Shield. I have no issues at all.

Save $30. Lowest price yet I've seen for Shield. Note this does NOT include the game controller though.

Isn't the housing the same as the pro? If lets say, I buy this, what's stopping me from adding an internal SSD? Or is the housing different and doesn't have the internal drive bay like the pro does??? This is what I'm interested in doing IF I buy this.

Please chime in everyone, this is a really good question...
