These are 1 notch above toy cameras Save your money. Got the white ones and hoping to hack to use as ip cameras with blue iris. Guess what you can't cuz they locked it down. Almost near useless in my case. Best of luck.
Just because they're useless for your obscure need, doesn't mean people should write these off. These have proven to have decent image and audio quality, a reliable software package, easy setup and NO monthly service fee for a great price.

Take your negativity elsewhere, sir!

Not true. I have one in my front entry and one in a Dropcase outside in the back. Image quality is great, night vision works great, alerts work great. Yi app is great. 32GB SD cards keep several days of footage with no monthly bill. I paid $20 each for the cameras. As an alternative to the overpriced options from Nest, Ring, Arlo, etc, I would say these are great!

Which drop case did you purchase?

I don't see it on Amazon anymore, it's a big black cylindrical one. I had to modify it to get the IR tight against the lens, but it works well. Too bad it's no longer available, I would like to get a 1080 Yi cam to point out at my front yard. I think the indoor 1080 cam in an outdoor enclosure might be a better option than the outdoor Yi cam.

Any other outdoor case recommendation beside that one? I need to buy at least two.

I had this camera for a few months now. For some reason it stopped giving me notifications. Anyone know a fix?

Did you try to unplug it and plug it back in?

Ok. So you really want me to open up on how crappy these really are. No problem. First, you can't use it without their crappy app. 2nd motion dectection is a joke. 3rd recording on sd card only it records 10 seconds if it "detects" motion (and I think I'm being generous because I think it's 6 - have it installed on an old android phone and isolated network cuz I don't trust it). I don't know if you're shills or not. But I personally bought two of them. And fully REGRET it. Only reason I don't return is cuz I'm not going to bother for $40 (bought 2 didn't even bother to open the other). Not worth my time. I have all sorts of ip cameras connect to my ad hoac blue iris setup. To call these ip cameras in the sense of the word is stretching it (yeah sure, cameras that can only connect and be seen by a proprietary app). Again, you don't have to believe me. Go head buy it and remember what I said. You get what you pay for. Never again. You fool me once. Read the negative reviews on Amazon. Knock yourself out.

1st, app is not crappy, it is very friendly. 2nd, the motion detection works very well for me, any reason for "joke"? 3rd, it is recording much more than 10s for motion detection. It do give u a 10s preview, but you can click in, to view more. As a product have 4 stars on over 2.9k reviews, and you are asking ppl to read negative reviews only? Furthermore, Fakesopt is giving it a big A.

Translation: I tried to use them for purpose they were not intended for. That did not work. These things are useless.

Now the opposing view point. I have 4 of these cameras myself and I have bought some for other family members. They work great and work exactly as advertised. I have been very pleasantly surprised.

If you try to pair them with some other 3rd party non-supported software and they don't work there, then please do us a favor and don't come here and complain about it. Nobody has ever claimed these cameras to work with your 3rd party software.

I have seen more than my share of crappy apps. I and my family use the Yi Home app to monitor our pets every single day. It has been very reliable.

I also have a Samsung Smartcam camera. It too has an app. Now that is a really crappy app. If you ever get a chance to use the Samsung Smartcam app, take it. You'll see the Yi Home app in entirely different light after that.
