What the hell happened, it used to be under $15 for federal and state. I sure hope the rates don't stay that high in a couple months!

Wow!

$54.50. Not nice.

I think I've been using TaxAct since 2003. Always paid less than $20 for federal AND state, sometimes less than $12.

Looking for a new provider for my taxes this year!

Got an email from TaxAct that they're offering 30% off through 11/27 for their Cyber Monday Sale. Packages range from $0 to $37.50, with the state return being $37 additional. Cheaper than H&R and TurboTax and easy to use.

Forms they don't support: https://help.creditkarma.com/hc/e...5004664123

Form or situation What's it for
Part-year state returns You lived in more than one state last year.
Multiple state returns You earned income in more than one state last year.
Nonresident state returns You earned income from a state you weren't a resident of. This could include wages, rental income, or S-corp or partnership income.
New Mexico state returns You lived or earned income in New Mexico last year.
Filing state taxes without filing federal taxes On Credit Karma Tax, you can file your federal taxes with or without filing state taxes, but it doesn't work the other way around — no state filing without federal.
Schedule H - Household Employment Taxes If you paid cash wages to a household employee and the wages were subject to social security, Medicare, or FUTA taxes, or if you withheld federal income tax.
Form 1116 - Foreign Tax Credit Allows you to claim a credit for certain foreign taxes accrued or paid to a foreign country or U.S. possession.
Form 2555 - Foreign Earned Income This form determines your foreign earned income exclusion and your housing exclusion or deduction.

Married filing separately in community property states (state returns) If you live in a community property state (Arizona, California, Idaho, Louisiana, New Mexico, Texas or Wisconsin) and you're filing as married filing separately, we won't be able to help prepare your state tax return. You can still file your federal taxes for free.
Clergy member tax filings (e.g., ministers or pastors) Members of the clergy can take advantage of special tax rules and exemptions.
City of Detroit Income Tax Returns You need to file City of Detroit tax returns for residing or earning income in Detroit.

CreditKarma Tax couldn't handle Backdoor Roths last year, which is one of the more simple tax avoidance strategies.

That being said, this is an awful price.
