I'm sure this may not appeal to a large audience, but I can tell you that the price is a very good deal. I've been looking at buying this faucet with the Touch2O technology for a long time now and even pulled the trigger at $530 earlier (ended up having to return it because they sent the wrong thing). This typically sits at $606 for the stainless steel version and will drop from time to time, but $520 is the lowest I've ever seen it and that was from a 3rd party (which is very hit or miss on whether they deliver the correct item in undamaged condition). This is $486 for the stainless steel version of the faucet sold and shipped by Amazon.

i don't disbelieve you that this is a good deal vs its regular price, but can you tell me why these things cost this much to start with?

I can't tell why it costs this much, but I can tell you that they are much better made than the cheap Chinese faucets you see floating around on Amazon and elsewhere now. Not that I have anything against Chinese goods... I often go the cheaper route. However, there are some things in the house that you just want to work and are more trouble to repair than they're worth. That being said, the Delta faucets (and many other name brand companies) have lifetime warranties associated with them. If any part (other than the electronic touch) breaks while you still own the faucet, they'll replace the part free of charge. Electronic parts are only warrantied for 5 years. There are also fit and finish differences. Handles are loose and jiggly (or at least get that way) on the cheaper faucets, the neck will start to loosen up over time so that when you try to swing the neck out of the way, it comes right back to center and won't stay where you set it, etc. Should it cost $600 normally? No way... but that's why I wouldn't buy it at that price point. Smilie

Money must come out of it.
