New Microsoft Surface 3 $289 @ Adorama.com

https://www.adorama.com/mis7g500001.html

•10.8" ClearType Full HD Plus Display
•Intel Atom x7-Z8700 processor
•2GB RAM
•3.5MP 1080p front-facing camera, 8.0MP 1080p rear-facing camera with auto-focus
•64GB internal storage
•802.11 a/b/g/n/ac
•Bluetooth 4.0
•13W Micro USB power supply, charges via MicroUSB

Not the fastest, but small and perfect for web browsing, media consumption, and Word and OneNote.

Also, it runs full Windows and can be upgraded to Win10! I would also add that Microsoft fixed power/standby issues, so make sure you do all the updates available.

This is the price that refurbs go for, so I think it's a great deal. I wish it included a TypeCover but there might be some BF deals for those.

Sorry, on my smartphone browser it has a big button that says "See Deal". I didn't know the link didn't show.

This runs full blown windows, which you can upgrade to 10, maybe until the end of the year? but might be different for the surface....can't find a description, but I would assume new?

I understand that it's an older tech, but I'm still thinking it's good for my kid, who'd use it for Lego Mindstorm stuffs, internet/youtube, and email. Am I too optimistic?

At the moment he uses the older Acer laptop, which was in the same price range, and bulky.
Maybe the Surface form is better for him to carry around.

A little optimistic for the 2GB version. If you can find a 4GB version itll be notably better experience for not much more.

I have this tablet for commuting, it's fantastic.

Never had any issues with too many tabs open, but never had more than 3 I guess.

I dont think 64GB is sufficient. I used 128GB SSD for my desktop for OS only and I still need to upgrade the SSD after 2 years.

I'm contemplating getting this as a tertiary machine for things like commuting, conferences, and the like, where I want the ability to use Chrome and do basic edits of complex MS Office docs. I currently use a Asus Transformer Book T100 for that purpose but it's been having battery issues. I have a more powerful laptop and desktop machine for serious uses, but do people find the 2GB/64GB model is functional as more than a toy?
