Lowest price I've seen for this blaster so the price is good. The Blaster itself is "okay" for what it is, which is a rifle sized handgun. It only holds 5 darts and has the slower reload time of a cylinder. My son got one for his birthday and he likes it because he feels like he can be a sniper now. For goofing around or for kids to play with it's fine but if I was going into a Nerf battle and I could only take one or 2 blasters with me this wouldn't be one of them. I would either take a magazine feed blaster for higher capacity and faster reloads or I would take a strongarm or hammer shot for smaller form factor.

^agreed - best price I've seen, and generally cool looking gun, but not the most practical for a nerf battle.

I've been hoping the "bigger brother" newer sniper rifle (raptorstrike?) goes on sale at some point, as that also has a cool look to it. Not the most practical either if you only have two guns, but the "role" is more specifically as a sniper in that case. Smilie

What is the appropriate age range to buy a nerf gun for your nephew?

Settle a discussion between my wife and I once and for all lol.

Umm. 3-100? My kids have them and I love playing in battles with them. They showed me the local high school kids have elaborate full scale nerf wars.

My kids are 8-11 and all their friends are into it too.

It's a cool looking gun. But horrible performance. It's slow and the distance is terrible. However, the kids do enjoy just hauling it around as a prop when they play.

Best is relative to your needs and taste. There are best of list all over the web. I have the Nerf Star Wars Jinn Erso flywheel battery powered with extended clips and a drum I got from goodwill. Basically full auto, there are others too. Flywheel fired are not the most accurate or farthest flying darts, but you can fire a lot of them easily.

I like pump action, slam fire nerfs too. Thinking about the Walmart bf deal of the mega rotofury. Large darts, pretty accurate and shoot far.

An appropriate age to buy a nerf blaster for a child is when they can prime it and understand not shooting people in the eye.

Before anyone asks for darts, the current nerf community standard for darts is Accustrike knockoffs. Here is one seller [amazon.com].

Waffle darts come in second place. Cheaper, but slightly less accurate.
