Note that this is the M65-D, which, if im not mistaken, a 2016 model. I believe the 2017 models are M65-E0

If so, the 2016 model is arguably preferable with more backlight zones.

I don't see anywhere where he offers extended warranty. Only 90 days on a refurbished, i am not that sure. Good tv as good as the 2017. But i'll pass.

Is this a good 4k starter if you just got an Xbox One X?

This is the 2016 M series, which iirc lacks wide color gamut and has worse HDR performance compared to the 2017. The 2017 M 65" has been around ~1000 before, so it doesn't seem worth it to save $300 on a refurbished year old model.

If $700 is all you can afford, get the 55" TLC P series, it's fantastic and great for movies and gaming.

If you want a 65", I'd get the Vizio 2017 M series or 2016/17 P series for the better HDR performance. Or wait until the 2018 models - maybe TLC will come out with a 65" P series like they were planning to this year.

This is indeed the 2016. Shopdivvy just had a sale on the 2016 P-series too (55" for the P55 for $699).

Last year's model has 128 zones vs. this year's 32 zones, and last year's model also came with a tablet. However, this year's model has some P-series features such as a wider color gamut, a bit better contrast, and much better HDR peak brightness.

Note that the M and P series (and probably some of the other stuff too) from 2016/2017 finally got rid of the reliance on Chromecast for all its smart features and now have actual native apps (which is why they ditched the free tablet). It still has a built-in Chromecast though.

And arguably not, with the 2016 having worse HDR performance and lack of wide color gamut.

The 2016 M has 64 zones, compared to 32 on the 2017 M. It's the P series that has 128.

You're right about everything else, though.

Yup, I got my specs crossed (I had been eyeballing shopdivvy's previous 2016 P55 deal for days).

Although strangely the P55 from 2016 is missing two LED zones (126) and is IPS instead of VA.
