Hue fans would likely go nuts on this deal. Just get the 3x bulbs, sell the bridge on eBay!

Personally, I bit on the Hue craze recently (Amazon deal), and I must say, I'm not very impressed with Hue. Firstly, the bulbs are not very bright (800lm for A19 bulbs, 650lm for BR30). Brightness diminishes further when you change to colors. But the biggest frustration for me has been that color settings reset to Soft White each time you turn the light switch off and on. Hue wants you to control the bulbs through their remote switch or apps (and never power down the bulbs so to speak), but that's not always comfortable or practical.

So, for me, its a nice novelty, which I'll likely maintain in one room, for show off or just some fun at times. I fully expect the product to evolve in future, and prices to come down significantly. That's when these would make more sense to me at least.

Good point and I probably wouldn't really use the color options that often, I just want to join the Hue ecosystem.

I'll probably install a few bulbs upstairs and downstairs so I don't miss certain emails (or deal alerts) using an IFTTT recipe:

For example if I never want to miss another Lenovo Thinkpad deal I can make them blink green or whatever. Hey I'm just trying to justify the $109 I just spent and now I just need another $141 to spend

Same here, isn't this the same bundle that's been $114 @ Amazon twice?

Who has the best price on the Philips Hue LightStip?

How often do you really want your room green, red etc though? Fun to show off but is it practical? If it could mimic the colors on your tv screen when you watch a movie, that would be a cool feature.

I just pulled the trigger on this as well. Best Buy has the individual A19 3rd Gen color bulbs on sale for $39.99 each for BF, meanwhile they work out to only roughly $36.67 each here. Plus you get the 2nd Gen bridge/hub included as well obviously.

You could sell the extra hub for $30-40 and bring the price per bulb less than 30 each.
