What is the best plan for extra phone? Need minimum text, message and data but more duration. Does this come with pre balance loaded? does it come as pre activated or do I have to activate this? will this sim contain new number as well? any activation charge if I call or chat? If I opt for basic phone plan and use it in smartphone, will that create any issue? will this work with my old moto g 2nd generation device?

h2owireless is best for a spare phone. i pay $10 every 3 months for 200min, the trick is to pay the next $10 before the first quarter period expires, that way you get to keep banking your minutes. I have like 2 years worth saved up now, and it only costs me $40/yr to have a spare emergency phone handy (no e911) on at&t's network.

You can get one year +90 days (~15 months total) of service with Tracfone for about $100... that's 750 minutes, 1500 texts, and 2.0 GB of data. You can buy more as needed.

Or 1 year +30 days (~13 months total) of service for $65 if you only get 200 minutes, 500 texts, and 500 MB data... but of course you can buy more as needed.

Better to get this one for $1 - https://www.ebay.com/itm/TracFone...2517656616

No tax on eBay. But more importantly, assuming they send you the one that matches the picture, the SIM kit from eBay allows your BYOP to get Triple Minutes for Life (TMFL), which TracFone has been phasing out. But as long as you have a phone or SIM on TMFL, it looks like they'll continue to honor it.

TMFL allows you to use the regular minute cards and you get "triple-triple", so for example, a 60 minute card gives you 180 minutes, 180 texts and 180 MBs of data in addition to 90 service days instead of just 60 minutes, 60 texts and 60 MBs of data.

This also lets you refill for as little as $6 per month instead of requiring smartphone-only plans that start at $15 per month or $25 - $35 for 60 days.

With all that said, frankly, I still wouldn't recommend TracFone because of all the problems they have with their systems. Customers don't always get what they pay for or lose service. I would recommend Red Pocket instead. Red Pocket has several annual plans that they sell on Amazon and eBay that are a very good deal and you can use any of the 4 major carriers with their plans.

They have a low usage plan with 100 minutes, 100 texts and 500 MB of data per month that's normally $60 for one year ($5 per month), that's currently on sale for $55.

Tracfone deals and 1,500 minutes, 1,500 text, and 1.5GB data good for a year and the LG phone: http://www.qvc.com/Tracfone-LG-Re...ml?sc=SRCH

Cheaper than buying the minutes.

Like the post just above says, the best deal is to buy a phone on sale from HSN or QVC and either use it or transfer the minutes to another phone, and sell the one from HSN.

How can you tell by looking at the pic that it's a TMFL SIM?

My thoughts as well. The picture for that eBay listing does not seem to show triple minutes.
