How does this compare to the coming Costco Netgear X6? Seems like this might be better for my smaller home use and price?

Smallnetbuilder (the most comprehensive router testing site) liked this a lot:

See the ranking chart compared to much more expensive routers. [smallnetbuilder.com]

See the full review. [smallnetbuilder.com]

The DIR-878 in the tests is exactly the same router as this 882 except it does not have USB ports for shared storage.

The overall #5 ranking is a little misleading because this only shows the most recent tests. However, the brand new Mediatek chips these let it equal far more expensive routers.

I bought one of these after seeing the tests, and it is fast and solid as a rock. No issues. I paid about $20 more for a used one on eBay. Good Deal for a solid fast but few frills router.

So should I go with DIR-882 or Costco Nitehawk X6S if my main concern is better support for multiple devices

How easy is it to set this up as an access point in the half of my house that's a dead zone from my FIOS modem/router combo?

Amazon has the DIR-878 for $80 this morning. Link [amazon.com].

As Groch said above, this is the same hardware as the DIR-882 in the OP, except no USB ports.
