iPhone 8/X BF deal term question

In the course of buying a new iPhone 8 or X this BF. Please help.

I understand those "installment credit" type promotion (like AT&T BOGO) essentially bind you to the carrier's service plan. When you terminate the service ahead of time and pay off the remaining balance, you also forgo the rest of "installment credit".

What I don't quite understand is how the BF iPhone deal work:
Walmart: $300 GC
Target: $250 GC
Bestby: $200 off

My assumption is that since you get the GC immediately or very soon, the trick will be that you have to stay in whatever carrier service plan for certain months. Otherwise, they will charge back or void the GC when you terminate the service too early. Is this how the deal works? If true, do we know, according to historical data, how many months we have to stay with each of the carrier? Which stores turn to request less months before you terminate the service?

Thanks in advance.
