Be aware that the "Parking Mode" feature doesn't work. At lowest setting ("1") it records continuously quickly overwriting any potentially useful video. Pittasoft is aware of the problem, but after nearly a year, it's still not fixed - and seems like no fix on the horizon either since they recently released their 750 series devices. For driving, it's a nice video system, but if you also want parking mode protection, this may not be the best model to choose.

Thanks for the insight. Do you recommend a good one that you may already be using? Been in the market for my 2nd car with parking sensor.

I don't have a good suggestion. The BlackVue was my first dashcam purchase. I have the DR650S-2CH, and I do like the device. I have written to Pittasoft several times, but from reading and posting on BlackVue forums, this has been a problem for about a year - maybe longer. In fairness Pittasoft did provide a firmware update which corrected another issue where the Parking Mode would take a very long time to turn off. It was bad enough that while driving on a family trip last summer, parking mode turned on in the middle of our drive! With the firmware update, this seems to be resolved. But I haven't taken any long trips since the last update, so won't know for sure, but it turns on and off very soon after the vehicle begins moving (or stops), so it appears to be resolved. I'm hoping they'll eventually fix the Parking Mode sensitivity as well. It really should only record when there's something to actually record (e.g. bump to vehicle, motion in camera). As it works now, setting sensitivity to ZERO turns off Parking Mode recording (with the loss of potential evidence if your vehicle is struck). Setting sensitivity to any other value (e.g. 1 to 99) essentially runs non-stop recordings which could potentially overwrite evidence if your car is struck soon after you leave and if you don't come back for some time (e.g. overnight).

Personally I won't buy another BlackVue device until parking mode sensitivity is resolved, because it leaves too much at stake if the car is left for an extended time (overnight or longer). Recordings could very well overwrite leaving you with nothing. There are cameras with hardwired parking mode features, but I'm not sure what's available or which would be better. BlackVue is a good device, but has this huge limitation until resolved by Pittasoft (manufacturer).

You're welcome. Like I said, I really like the BlackVue - it's sleek, is not easy to see while mounted in the vehicle (which makes theft a bit less likely), and does seem to work good overall. It's the Parking Mode which I find the most frustrating. But I'm hopeful they will resolve this recording issue at some point. <FingersCrossed> Smilie
