Can anyone chime in here on current costs for the ultra? Or any other good prices for it?

I havent seen the Ultra less than $54 really. Im figuring it should become the standard Chromecast when they eventually release the next generation but no idea when that will be.

Does anyone have experience with the Chromecast Audio? What's the advantage over a bluetooth speaker?

I love the CC audio. If you have multiple you can set your whole house up on it with multi room, or you can create different zones. It also is quicker to connect to than Bluetooth in my experience. Also, it does not pipe all of your phone's sound through the speakers, unlike bluetooth. You can start music playing on a CC audio and then start a video on your phone and the video's audio will play out your phone speakers like normal without disrupting the music. I have 4 of them and love them.

There is no advantage. It's to plug into non-bluetooth speakers/receivers to make them like Bluetooth (actually Wi-Fi). Like if you already have a nice home stereo system you can plug this into the headphones jack and then stream Spotify or whatever.

In case anyone is thinking about an upgrade from the first gen. The major difference will be a 2-4X performance increase in reliability and less buffering.

CC Audio connects via wifi which is better than bluetooth. Bluetooth has distance limitation of around 33ft. Wifi depends on your wifi but generally covers longer distance.
CC has digital audio ( with toslink cable). It's a higher quality audio.
CC does a good job with multi room audio ( requires a cc for each stereo or powered speaker).

you can use it with google home. And if you have multiple chromecast audios, you can sync up all the speakers.

Thanks. I bought the 1st gen Chromecast when they first came out. Still use them but YouTube videos start off stuttering. From what ive read, there isnt a fix for the 1st gen.

Do you have any experience with the Ultra? Im debating on buying one.
