I am using the Essential Phone with this case and like it a lot. The drop protection is rated at 3 feet. I bought it for $16.74 (regular price of $19.99 minus 15% off code) and am happy about the price I paid.

This case makes the black EP 1 look super cheap and feels like a brick.. even though it's glossy it's still somewhat grippy, I only ordered because only case for prime delivery. I now have the tudia carbon black case and it's a pretty nice tpu case. Hopefully they release a more minimal case like their usual offering. The NGP case in smoke/black may be a different story but it's sold out..

Hey Vic,

How are you liking your phone after all the updates? I'm hearing/reading a lot of good things lately.

I like the phone a lot. Beautiful display, amazing material, very responsive, no lag or hang of any sort, and super fast charging.

A few people in public asked me if it's the iPhone X and some have commented on its looks, which I have never experienced while using a phone before, so it's a bit interesting. No one seems to care as soon as I say it's not an iPhone though... haha.

Don't try this at home, but I decided to splash water on my phone pretty heavily because it's IP-54. I figured if I wanted to test its water resistance, the time to do it is when it's new and when I can do it intentionally. The phone works fine even with heavy splashing into the ports.

I really like the Incipio NGP Pure clear case [incipio.com] I purchased. I also purchased the Incipio Flex Plus Plex screen protector [incipio.com] and it arrived four days ago, but I haven't had time to put it on; reviews so far aren't the best though. It will soon be a full month of phone usage, and I don't see any micro scratches of any sort.

Thanks! I dropped my Moto X Pure the other day and the screen was utterly destroyed to the point that touchscreen was brokwn, so I couldnt even open it. This, of course, put me in panic mode and had to buy something immediately. So I ended up getting it. So far its great. Its a slippery sucker though, ain't it?! I normally HATE putting any kind of cases on my phones (yes, probably would have saved my Moto X the other day, but I digress), but had to get one [amazon.com] on this phone. It seems to be built well, but at the same time seems so fragile.

Have you had any issues getting emails/calls in what I call a timely manner? My Moto X, notifications happened immediately. It seems there is a 1-2 minute delay receiving emails notifications on this phone though.

That sucks, sorry to hear. I'm a fan of Moto phones, having owned a few, and my significant other is using a Moto Z (2016) right now.

Switching from Moto phones, the one thing I missed is the Moto Actions [custhelp.com], such as "Chop twice for flashlight" and "Twist for Quick Capture." Fortunately, I found the free Gravity Gestures app [google.com], which basically does the same thing, but with more customization!

I have not noticed any delays in emails and calls. I primarily use Gmail, and I usually receive notifications on the phone sooner than Gmail on a desktop browser that has been set to auto-refresh. (For reference, this was also the case on my former Moto phone, so it isn't that the Essential Phone is somehow doing it better.)

You can try contacting Essential here [essential.com]. I highly recommend addressing any issues and concerns while a smartphone is new and fully under warranty.

Yeah, its only minor. like one or two minutes...and not all the time (yeah, weird). Nothing worth contacting them about yet, though.

Thanks for the detailed review! I just bought one through the Sprint deal posted on SD. Keep us posted if you see another deal on the Incipio case. That looks like the best one of the few that are currently available. It's almost as though the case manufacturers don't think this phone will be a hit.
