I have the motion-activated model and it is incredible - especially with 5-year warranty. It cost me $80 at BBB with their 20% off coupon. I was not a fan of the step-on model but i would recommend using the 20% off BBB coupon (sign up for emails) and shop there. I would have to think it is less there - too busy with TDay to look it up.

As far as spending $80 or more for trash barrel: my motion-activated model i've had 6 months and it is flawless, attractive and i'm sure will last more than 5 years. I was so sick of dropping $20-40 on a plastic hinge thingy that would fail within a year. So much lost time simply shopping for a new one! So spending $80 -plus does seem extravagant but it will be money well spent. If not sure, BBB has an excellent return policy.

This makes all the sense in the world.

I will say there are more meaningful things you can spend money on, but if you are in the market for one, you should get one that is attractive and lasts. No sense in having to replace a garbage can 12 or 18 months after buying one.

Just get a $3 home depot bucket. It will never have issues.

There is no reason not to upcycle. Think creatively and the item that has one purpose will have hundreds.

A paint can is being used for that in my room, its very attractive.

You can get this at bed bath and beyond evey day for 20% off with thier coupons.

Not a slick deal at all.

You should have got it at BB and Beyond when on sale for 109$ and used the 20% off coupon.

For others in the thread, i got a similar simplehuman can on clearance and used BBB coupon and its a rad trash can. About 74$ though.

Holds smell in well and doesnt look like a crappy 6$ home depot trash can. The pull out can portion is very convenient.

Anyway, nice trash can but crappy deal imo.
