Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC Lens for Canon (and other mounts) $249

For limited time, Adorama has the Rokinon 14mm F/2.8 Lens for Canon available for 249$. Please see other mounts for discounts as well. This is an excellent lens for Astrophotography. The lowest price that I have seen on SlickDeals is around 225$ on Amazon Lightning deal for Prime Users. But Adorama has no tax for most of us, so this deal comes pretty close.

Alternatively, B&H has the same deal as well.
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr...tml?sts=pi

B&H allows you to build a bundle with Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan to save an additional 20$. I called Adorama but unfortunately they do not offer the 20$ discount on the Adobe Bundle.
Good deal?

How does this compare to the 12mm f2 on aps-c?

I'm getting either that lens for aps-c or this lens for ff.. Just wondering which would be the best choice for astrophotography

The 14mm has almost a cult like following for Astrophotography. I got this one to pair with a Canon 6D

Snagged one. I currently use a crop sensor camera, but want to eventually get a full-frame body, too. To avoid buying double the lenses, I try and get lenses that fit both.

Between the 14mm for FF or 12mm for APS-C, it's probably fairly similar. The 12mm probably allows more light to the sensor, but the FF has a larger sensor for better low-light photos. The 12mm is also the FF equivalent of 19mm on a crop sensor. Slightly less wide compared to 14mm on FF.

It really depends on which you'd prefer, FF or APS-C. But they're probably both solid choices. Just watch for decentered elements. Test the lens as soon as you get it, in case you need to exchange it for QC defects. These lenses are known for that problem...

I screwed up my math... Canon crop sensor factor is 1.6x. 12mm on a crop sensor is effectively 19mm on a FF sensor.

But, in case you aren't aware, crop sensors only capture a portion of the lens image, effectively creating a zoom factor over FF sensors.

Sorry for missing it out. It seems like for Nikon, they have an even better deal. The Nikon lens with AE Chip is only 279$.

Is $279 for Nikon a deal? This has been the price for about a week now.

I haven't been following the price for the Nikon version closely. Seems like the best deal on SD for that was 255+tax on Amazon. So 279$ comes fairly close for must of us who don't have to pay tax on Adorama/B&H

I have this 14mm with D6. I think 12mm 2.8 is better, it is also on sale in bhphoto.
