Could put this in the empty 2nd slot of my Dell 7577 to bump it up to 16GB, but would it have any conflicts with the Hynix 8GB already installed?

It should not. Dell will sell you a upgrade 8gb stick of dell brand for like $90.

I bought this for

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell...Id=5872507

I could have sworn there was a review noting someone bought a stick with a heat sink and had to swap it for one without. This one seems to have a heatsink. I will cross that bridge if it's an issue. it seems weird a gaming laptop could not fit performance memory. I have a feeling if it is an issue the solution will be to put this in the slot closest to the motherboard that's already occupied and than the original in second. I would not be totally surprised if there is no clearance. We will see.

I see. Just checked my laptop, and the RAM has very little space against the motherboard and itself. Would not fit a stick with a heatsink, at least not one that would have it on that side against the motherboard. Plenty on the other side. Guess I'll have to look elsewhere.

I would look up your model. By heatsink they mean a thin piece of aluminum. I will report back even though that will be very late and deal gone.

you should have no problem the heatsink faces outward and should have plenty of clearance underneath the access panel

But checking this specific RAM, there is heatsinks on both sides. If it was just one (and that side was facing outward), then it would be no problem.

Yeah i thought better of it and decided to just wait instead of trying. I really want to do 2x16gb ram eventually for virtual machine/sql server options. Anyway my plan is to search locally on Craig's list and let go, etc. There is someone with a 4gb stick near me for 25 i am going to shoot for. Its not 8gb but will enable dual channel for first 8gb of ram.

Hopefully ram goes down in price but what i read is all these cell phone and tablets is causing higher demanding leading to this crazyness.
