I guess if you want it to use it on straight talk, then it's a good deal, otherwise hassle to unlock

I purchased this this morning. I am wondering if I should get the unlocked instead. I am on a $45 unlimited plan with our current phone. This phone shows $55 unlimited. If I bought the unlocked and moved my existing card over would I save $10 a month?

I did the math and this is not a great deal
straight talk says 1 year of service required. minimum $45 plan. if you are say, at $30 now, you will play $180 extra over year making this phone around $595. good to go with unlocked instead

I don't think so, not with a tmobile sim without being unlocked first

You can get service for under $30 a month right now after combining 30 percent off code and cash back sites for straight talk.

I am already on $45 plan so would you still go with the unlocked?

Yes it can be unlocked. I bought 2 a few days ago and flashed G950U1 to unlock them for any CDMA or GSM carrier. Here's the link https://www.sammobile.com/firmwar...950U1/XAA/
