HRO was including a Heil microphone but I don't see that deal right now.

Yes you need a ham radio license to transmit. No if you're just listening.

Too rich for my blood. I'll stick with my Bitx-40.

I keep raising my limit. . . want to upgrade from my TS-430 and do some digital stuff (FT8).
Seriously looking at the FT-891 which gets very good reviews but it's small, no built in antenna tuner, no sound card built in. By the time I add in the accessories I'm close to the 7300.

It's not a bad deal, but yesterday for the same price you could get a free Heil mic and adapter included with the purchase at HRO.

How much better is the Heil mike? For me I'd have to pay tax at HRO which would pretty much pay for a mike.

It's a desktop mic and it's pretty good if you like that kind of setup, but like I said it was only available until yesterday.

Just placed my order from Gigaparts. Costco citi card automatically adds 2 years warranty on top of the factory so 3 years covered.

Figure if I don't like it I could sell it for close to what I paid for it.

And it's here! Wasn't supposed to show up until Tuesday. Time to play!
