I got Pioneer LX302 from the store too but yet to return Onkyo 656. I read quite a few detailed reviews. Seems like 656 offers more value for money. I am still struggling to chose between these two.

I feel the exact same way. They seem very comparable and for the price, a 60 percent increase in price I'm just not sure you are getting close to 60 percent extra value. I picked up Dolby Atmos add on speakers and am waiting for them to come in. That may be the deciding factor. Apparently the pioneer has better sound processing for atmos. Keep me updated on what you decide

Hi, I do not think the sound processing is very different unless you are talking about their audio calibration software, and neither of them appears to be superior (maybe MCACC is slightly better than AccuEQ) compared to Audyssey - at least, that is what most of the audiophiles prefer to. I was under the impression that Pioneer has better zone 2 capabilities and can be reassigned to main, but upon reading the manual, it's no different from Onkyo. Other than all ports being HDCP, additional USB ports, and looking good overall, I am not able to justify the premium for Pioneer - maybe VSX has better impedance?. DTS Play-FI doesn't matter - prefer GC. Also, 656 will soon have DV through the firmware update. For now, I am leaning towards 656 and thinking to spend $$$ for Blu Ray player, etc.
