Only IP54 waterproof rating... I would look elsewhere if you want to keep it out in the woods in the rain.

Not a piece of junk at all. I bought 2 of these cameras several months ago for about the same price, and even though the pictures and video are a little grainy at night, I think they're great for me. The volume and sound is very good, and even though the video quality isn't as good as my Moultrie, the Moultrie was more than twice as expensive and this is nice for the money.

These deer cameras - pretty much all of them - have maybe 2 years or so of life in them before they all die out anyway, so I get the cheapest ones that do well. I wouldn't hesitate buying these again, especially for the sound factor. I have these cameras about 10 to 12 feet from the deer corn I set out weekly, and I can hear them crunching the corn.

I actually bought one last time it was on sale. It is far from a piece of junk. Day video and pics are great quality. Night pics and video are worse, but are still good considering the price you are paying. If the target(s) are up close (closer than say, 20 feet) then the quality is better, even at night.

Good point about longevity. It's really hard getting a camera to last more than a couple years. I've probably owned over 30 game cameras by now and I only have a few that make it past 3 years without issue. If that's the number one requirement you better dish out serious money for a Reconyx. I've owned 7 of those and they are worth the money and the company will repair them for a small fee and sometimes for free.

However, you can just as easily buy 2 of these cameras every other year and still be ahead on money after 5 years vs a single reconyx

It is tough to get them to last very long. I guess if I was sitting out in temperature extremes 24 hours a day I'd be in bad shape, too, though, so I guess we're asking for a lot. I'll just keep getting the cheap ones every couple of years, and thankfully the Ingles grocery store near my house has 4 Rayovac AA batteries every few weeks for $1, so I stock up when I can on those to keep the cameras going.

I used Rayovac for a very long time. Never had a AA dead on arrival. I switched to rechargeables about 5 or 6 years ago and haven't looked back. I bought some cheap tenergy AA that got the job done and then slowly bought eneloops and cheap randoms when on sale......next thing you know you're pushing 200 rechargeable batteries and question what in the heck you are doing....lol

That's funny! I do have some Eneloops and they are GREAT, but I only have one or 2 chargers that charge 4 at a time. How do you charge all of yours? My problem is that I have 5 cameras out with 8 batteries each, so I'd have to charge a boatload of batteries to replace the ones I have out.
