Just saw the Amazon Black Friday Deal of the Ultimate Robot Vacuum,
It was just knocked down to 25% off, an exclusive offer for the deal of the day, lowest price ever.

This vacuum is Wi-Fi enabled, strong suction.

Over 1300 great reviews, fake spot grade B.

Having purchased a Deebot M80 (and returned it) and currently have a Roomba 960 that I picked up from the Costco Deal (~500), I can answer some of your questions. The Deebot is a "dumb" robot - it just goes in a straight line until it hits a wall or object, bumps into it, then goes in a different direction. Edge mode will keep it along the lines of the objects, but it has no sense of where it actually is in the house. In some areas, this gets the job done - but in a house like mine (which is not an open floor plan whatsoever) I found the bot would miss areas of rooms because it just never got "lucky" enough to go in that direction during it's run. It also annoyingly would bump around it's base station, sometimes to the point where it could not dock again. The M80 has a wet mop feature that 79 doesn't have, but I have the wet mop feature a try and it was damn near useless. Basically a less effective Swifter. And you have to equip it to go into wet mop mode, so it's a more "hands-on" activity... which is the opposite of why you buy one of these.

The Roomba 960, on the other hand, uses a camera and maps out the house so that it "knows" it actually did the entire area. It also knows where it left off, so if it has to charge in the middle of the job, it picks up right where it left off. The Roomba doesn't use traditional brushes either, which are great since you don't have long hairs getting rolled up into them. I'm finding the Roomba 960 to be doing a better job - getting stuck less, covering more ground, and always getting back to base. But for the price difference, I certainly expect that.

I think that your use case and house style likely dictates how much success you'll have with either bot. I don't have pets so not sure about how good either one is with cats. It's also my understanding that the credit card will extend your warranty - I used the Costco Visa for the Roomba. I will say this - it's oddly fun to crack a beer and watch a robot vacuum.

I'm new to robotic vacuums. The only product I'm interested in this Black Friday is a robotic vacuum, but haven't had time to do my research, unfortunately. This product comes with a 1-year warranty, and I'm thinking my Citi card will give me an additional 2 years for free [citi.com].

Some questions:

I think this model does not have a removable battery, so does that mean the whole product will go in the trash as soon as the battery dies?
What do the ~$500 ones have that this doesn't?
Is the M80 better? I don't mind a $20 difference if that one is better.
I mainly want a robotic vacuum because I have two long-haired cats. Is this a good product for it?
These are possibly the most amateur questions I have posted on Slickdeals in years!

Thank you,
Tofu Vic

I'm in the market for robotic vacuums too.. From my understanding the higher end models use mapping technology, these low end ones do not.

I really wanted the frys Roomba 960 deal, but it was a joke. Gone within minutes.

This or the ILIFE deal from earlier? ILIFE is not WiFi enabled but was $135. Otherwise looks about the same.

Thoughts?
