The version being offered by Quicken comes with only a one year subscription. The Newegg deal is better with two years for $15 more.

Have they changed the Quicken to be a yearly subscription vs the 3 year one. I know the online was that way but the box version was good for downloads for 3 years before.

If this is the case I'm done with Quicken---not going to pay them yearly. I've been with them from the time they launched but really don't need to have it.

My Quicken 2015 is supposed to sunset in Apr 2018. Can I buy this now and activate Apr 2018? Will the 2 yr be effective from the purchase date or the day of installation/activation.

My understanding is that you needed to upgrade at least every 3 years or you couldn't import your file into the newer version.

I don't want to pay yearly either. This might be the push I need to go to QuickBooks or Mint.

I hope they have made it better. I've got 2017 and I'm not to happy with it. Mobile app isn't all that great, I've called Costumer support multiple times and we always end up erasing the mobile data off the phone and off the computer. Then it works. They ask you if the two platforms are syncing up and when you say yes, they say thank you for calling and thats it. 2 weeks later when you call and tell them you have called about this before they do the same thing and tell you to call them if you have anymore problems. Hopefully they have fixed the cloud issue. I also had categorizing issues and display issues on my PC. I've spent probably about 10-15 hours trying to fix the issues. When all fails they say, we will create a ticket for this issue. Thank you for calling. Haven't heard of a fix to my issues. I called back and asked for an update and was told they are working on it and they are aware of the issue. On the plus side, you get to talk to an American who speaks english well and not someone from another country.

It should be from the date of activation. Make sure that you back up all your data and then when you activate the new one compare Everything. Last time I upgraded to 2016 I had a bunch of transactions missing---some deposits--some transfers, some credits/debits and it was a total mess to figure out. I fixed it once and then did a back up again and an update and it messed it up again. It was a total mess. I am NOT upgrading again if we have to pay yearly. Just not worth the hassle and if you can access it from anywhere it's more like an online software vs on your desktop and I'm not too eager to have my data where it can be breached or others can see. I want it on desktop and to me there isn't enough reason to be able to access it anywhere vs the risk that's involved. I'm sure 2016 has some of the same things too but I do love the download capabilities but I can live without them if I keep up with entering transactions monthly. I am currently using Home and Business and love the different files you can create. I can see all the previous years in different files and then just create another file when I have too many years in one or a change in business and categories or you can run different businesses under different files. I'm hoping that enough people won't renew and they will change their policy. You can probably purchase a 2017 and it would be good for a few more years. Might be a cheaper route then paying the yearly fee. That's probably what I would do if I had a 2015. Purchase 2017 for less then $30 somewhere online and use it for 2 years Smilie.
