Some prefer Anova, etc. but this doesn't go on sale as frequently so posting for those who are interested.

Back in May this was a front page deal. Prime day had the white version for $10 cheaper at $139. I wonder at $149 is this worth it over a $130 Anova wifi + $10 gift card from target that I had already purchased.

I tried to apply a sharejoule referral code on the Chefsteps website as well but couldn't get it to stack. Would have made it slicker, somebody post if they get different results.

Just got mine in. I tried salmon tonight. I'm not a huge fish person but it was amazing. Wow.

was the machine loud? why did you choose this over the Anova or Strata from Monoprice?

There's a video on Youtube by souvideeverything (I don't necessarily trust their opinion on the food they make), but they said the Anova is faster to heat up and quieter. I can definitely hear my Joule in the next room over, and I absolutely HATE HATE HATE that it can only be operated via the app. I do like the magnetic base. However, if I could do it over, I'd go with the Anova.

I'd say mostly build quality and form factor. Easier to store because it's smaller. The joule is very quiet, just a slight hum. I've read reviews of the anova having issues caused by steam. Joule gets up to temp quicker. Joule has a nice app for beginners like me. Though you can have your anova and check out the joules recipes. I wanted WiFi to potentially initiate cooking from work, so I believe that eliminates the monoprice. I wish the joule had physical controls but knowing I can use Alexa with it didn't make that a big deal to me. I think I could have been happy with the anova, in fact I'm gifting the anova to my parents for Xmas.

Interesting. I watched videos from another source that mentioned the joule heats up quicker. It has more wattage so I would expect it to be quicker than the anova. The noise didn't bother me at all.
