Just fyi, ooma service itself is fine, didn't really use it much over the 3 years or so that I had it. However, when I got tired of the $6.xx in taxes and fees per month I've never had a more difficult time cancelling a service than I did with ooma. It took 2 phone calls, each at 20+ minutes per call. They asked irrelevant questions, wouldn't confirm they were cancelling service after requesting it over 15 times, gave me a $15 credit in leue of cancelling so I could give the unit away (even though I told them I didn't want the credit and just wanted to be done), told me they were going to hang up on me because I said this was bullshit they are making it this hard to cancel, and a lot more frustrating details that I won't go on and on about. They even had the gall to charge my card for the difference between the unwanted credit and another month of service, even though I had no interest in the credit and had to waste more time calling them a 3rd time. It was just very combative when all I wanted was to cancel service. Just wanted to warn anyone who hates dealing with that kind of crap when trying to cancel what you are signing up for. And I've dealt with companies like comcast on a regular basis. Comcast is great compared to them.

I doubt if this has more value compared to Obihai 200/202 considering Ooma has monthly recurring fee while Obi is completely free when connected through Google Voice. Tough, I like the Ooma cordless phone (color LCD screen).

Does anyone know similar cordless phone which I can plugin into Obihai?

Obihai works with any VOIP/SIP providers. There are many reliable ones (like localphone.com) that provides great rates (800 minutes@$1.60 per month, or 0.5c/min with free toll free). It works out cheaper for a vast majority of people.

Agreed, Ooma has generally increased their taxes and fees while Obi is going on year 3 with zero cost after initial $30 purchase

Ill pay $4.50 taxes a month for unlimited anywhere calling anytime. Plus my cell phone gets my home voicemails and can you make non cell calls with your cell phone using obihai?

Yes, you can. Since it is a Google voice #, you just install the Hangouts app on your phone and sign in using the same acct. Then, dial away in the Hangouts app.
Not only can you get voice mail on your phone, you can choose to get incoming calls on your cellphone as well.

Plus, Google voice gives you free voice to text transcription, and you can enable spam block in GV. You can enable call screening in GV, and have custom voicemail for different people.
