Total noob question, do you have to run any wires at all? seems like a good deal if it's wireless. Thanks for sharing.

I may sound like a broken record, but debating on this system or the OWRL or Arlo at Costco..

For the price I think I will pull the trigger on this in the next 20 min though.

Anyone seen PoE hardwired camera deals? Don't mind hard wiring. Do not want to run power and Ethernet for these devices.

Note to folks thinking about buying this kit, there are many good options better than this available right now - highly recommend avoiding Annke .. If you're new to security cameras, do take a look at the wiki in the master list

Hi Nsiraser,

Please see the wiki in the Master List - it is my way to share with others my experiences from starting as a total noob to getting to understand this stuff since 1 year ago got ripped off by a thieving neighbor's visitors who were running a drug den.

Perhaps
1) Because a kit with 720p cameras sucks at this price point, when there are MUCH better deals out there now from better quality brands.

1280TVL = 1280 lines up... 720p = 1280x720... guess what game Annke is once again playing on you. They do this sort of BS all the time. You just can't trust this brand.

2) It's Annke... and there are much better deals out right now

Hi Nsiraser,

note, try to find the best hardware - many times you'll have to do some DIY learning

I bought an Annke system last year. Setup was a pain! The menus make no sense (poor translation from Chinese). I have no clue what half the shit does, and forget about documentation.

On the plus side, the internal motherboard battery corroded, which froze the system. They did send me a replacement for free.

But if you need to save money and buy something like this, don't go wireless or BNC/power. Go POE. Wireless loses connection right when you don't want it to. BNC/power requires you to find power from somewhere. The splitters will help. POE solves both those problems.

I bought this last year. You have to run all the wires for this which isn't fun but you get what you pay for. Its a decent camera system if you want to see whats going on around your property. Pictures quality isn't the greatest obviously. Not the most user friendly for playback in my opinion.

Personally I wish I would have spend a couple hundred more and got a higher quality system.
