A good deal on some decent backup software, especially now that CrashPlan is out of the game. Only goes on sale once a year. You can backup to a ton of cloud providers with it. Very flexible.

So, it's not clear from the page. Is this $29.99 a year or for the life of the service? I only see a per user price.

How are the speeds?

Life of the service. Speeds are good but dependent on what cloud provider you use. I no longer have it as the price of a cloud service + the software was too high.

It's not a service. It's $29.99 for the current version of the software. Plus another $29.99 if you want free upgrades for life.

The value you find in this kind of backup software will likely be dependent on how much data you have. If you have multiple computers and not a lot of data, this can be cheaper than something like Carbonite. If you have one computer with an enormous amount of data, there are probably better options. The SFTP function is nice though and is a nice replacement for CrashPlan's P2P feature.

Does this make it easy to restore files from Amazon Glacier? ... I know it's usually hard to get to files otherwise.

Thanks Op... triggered my deal alert. I'm still on Crashplan through early next year and was looking for another solution. Will probably use Amazon @ $60 year for 1TB since I only back up family vids, photos and other such information.

Does 1 user license cover just one machine? Do I have to buy a license for each family member?

All machines that one user owns. Technically you need a license per family member.

As of the latest version, for home use, you can install it on multiple computers using one license. For commercial use, then you need one license per computer.

Hi firefox15,

Arq license is per user, so you can use one license on all the computers that belong to you. Your wife is considered to be a different user, so she needs a separate license for her computers.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks.

I'm a little confused on the licensing for Arq. Can you please explain? It looks like it's $50 for one user on unlimited PCs. Does that mean I need a separate license for my wife, or does it all fall under the "one license" banner since only person uses each computer in our house? Thanks for any clarification.
