Great price.

I've been using a cheaper Braun Cooltec that I really like, but they discontinued that line and foil/cutter cartridges are expensive. This is tempting.

No doubt a hot deal, but do the foil/cutter heads last? Some reviewers on Amazon say they have to replace them more than twice a year!

I've been using a Panasonic Arc3 for the last few years which isn't that great. Is this a overall good shaver?

I have an older version that I'm replacing, and the foils were fine on that. Apparently, Braun changed the foil design at least once in the past few years, and people thought they were much worse. However, there was a shortage of foils in the past year because Braun seem to have temporarily stopped making them, presumably as they switched to a different design, and there are now recent reviews of people saying that new foils seem to be like an older style. So, my hope is that Braun realized they needed to improve the foils, and that the currently available foils won't have quality problems.

I've have two Braun shavers and while they've lasted about 5 years each, the silver coating starts to come off after a couple of years. Doesn't affect the performance but seems like a design flaw. My guess is the alcohol in the cleaning station breaks down the plastic coating.

I did as well. Luckily, Costco has a 90 day return policy.

I have an earlier Series 7 model which I liked, and am replacing. Different shavers are right for different people. I tried a good quality rotary head shaver years ago, and it chewed up my face like crazy. I'm sure that for other guys with skin that's different than mine, that shaver might have worked great. I also tried a high end Panasonic foil shaver years ago, and it wasn't as good for me as the Brauns are. I don't recall if it shaved worse, or was rougher on my skin than Braun, but I had to return it and buy another Braun.

I will say that the Brauns I bought in the early 2000s weren't as high quality as the Series 7 that I've had for years. Those earlier models, even though they occupied a similar place in Braun's product line, would break on me after a year or two. When I got a Series 7, it just seemed higher quality, and it lasted much longer. Of course, my Series 7 is 5+ years old, so it's possible that the newer ones have gone down in quality.
