This should be a good general purpose router, better than most of the old n class routers, but it's not the the outstanding TP-Link Archer C5. Yes TP-Link has two ac-1200 routers. This one, the C-50, isn't the top notch one.

Nor does it have gigabit LAN or WAN ports, just the ancient 10/100 Mb/s interfaces. I have a perfectly good 10 year old Dell computer that came with a gigabit interface and yet it would be throttled by a router with the latest technology wireless. Perhaps it's suitable for hooking up your TV, but not for use on a wired home network.

SMH...what's the point of making it gigabit capable when the bottleneck is the 100Mbit wan and lan ports?

Internal LAN transfers between ethernet wired computers. I have two computers with gigabit nics, but they are limited to 100Mbits (if that) by my router. And who knows, someday I might get a fast connection from my ISP so that I'll need better than a 100Mb/s WAN.
