During setup of the hardware wallet, please print or write out the security phrase. Keep it safe. Personal friends and family have lost their money when they forget to do this, and lost their wallet.

------------------------------------------------------
Setup recommendation:
1. Setup. Make sure you write down the seed/security phrase.
2. Transfer something small like $5 bitcoin, make sure ledger receive coin.
3. Erase everything on ledger/reset. If you enter incorrect pin three times, it'll auto reset.
4. Use the original seed to regrow. Make sure you still see your original $5. This is to double check that everything is fine.
5. Continue with life

------------------------------------------------------
Extra precaution for people doing crypto:
1. Always use 2FA at minimum, hardware is best.
2. recommend to use different emails on crypto vs blogs...emails can be hacked. Phone number can be transferred out.

WARNING:
life savings disappeared from a Ledger brand Nano hardware wallet after Reddit user moodyrocket purchased the wallet second hand through eBay.

Best buy directly from manufacturer.

Got one. It's also the same price on Amazon, but from a 3rd party.

How does this compare to the Trezor in terms of security and support for all the Bitcoin forks?

No personal experience since it'll be my first ledger. Reading & youtube seems to indicate the support of previous BCH fork. Next potential future fork (bitcoin diamond)...I am not sure, no other wallet does either.

Repped.

The OP's deal is also good because it's probably safer to buy direct from Ledger than to use a 3rd party merchant on Amazon or other retailer, even at the same or even lower price.

Plus 5% csh bck

I have several, mainly for backups. Note that you can only install 4-5 'apps' on it (so, 4-5 cryptocurrencies), which is another reason to buy multiple. Not sure if Trezor has the same issue.

It supports quite a few coins, including ETH, Dash, XRP, NEO, BTC, BCH/BCC, Bitcoin Gold, LTC, ZEC, etc. Full list: https://ledger.zendesk.com/hc/en-...-products-

EDIT: This lists more coins. Seems the Ledger FAQ isn't up to date, but they support more coins than Trezor: https://coinsutra.com/supported-c...er-wallet/

Whatever you do, do *NOT* lose your passphrase/recovery seed!

This is a good deal. I waited almost 3 months to get my Ledger wallet (ordered in June, received in September). If the shipping is 3 days directly from the manufacturer, then there's no point in getting it from the 3rd party Amazon sellers.

What shipping option did you choose? I paid about 94 Euros for 2 with shipping to the east coast.

It's probably because you chose a faster shipping. 1 week shipping is 3.6€ which is great.
13.2€ for 1-2 days shipping is not bad either, compared to their usual 21€ for 2-3 weeks shipping (because of very low stock in US warehouses)

Is this like a flash drive in that it can become corrupted and you lose your currency? Do you need a backup?
