Anyone know if it can be stacked with the rebate?

DANG! are you serious? that is awesome! do you like the lens? will be using it for action/spoorts and my 70-200 F4 does't have the reach for some of the shots that I need for the bigger fields.

the other option i was thinking of is just getting an extender but i've heard mixed reviews on those.

For the money I think it is a very good lens. I mostly shoot with a 500 F4 and a 300 F2.8 though. I'm 99% birds and wildlife so it should be good for sports within it's limitations. If you are shooting day light sports, no worries. If you are shooting in lower light might be tougher since it's a slow f6.3 at the longer end. Here are some samples on my Flickr page from the G2.. https://flic.kr/s/aHskJT3PRS

WOW! amazing pictures!

It's for baseball and there would be quite a bit of movement that require the "speed" of the lens and hoping lens would suffice. I think sigma makes one as well that is labeled as a "sports" lens but i don't know how much better that would be, especially at nearly twice the price.

any ideas if tamron will honor the warranty because the seller is beachcamera?

The "sport" is also a slow lens and is F6.3 at the long end. AF speed is about the same with both of them which is pretty good actually. Beach Camera is an authorized dealer so you would get the 6 year warranty.

Just can't understand the THUMBS DOWN for this excellent deal. Can anyone of those morons TDing this deal, quote a reason for their ignorance?
This is the BEST price I have ever seen, especially considering the Authorized USA seller, Ebay 10% ebucks rebate (Few more hours only left) and icing around the cake including the most wanted: TAP. Now if you care to run for the MIR and get another $100, that is another reason to think. BeachCamera has a coupon to take additional $25 from $600 purchase that directly wont apply to ebay but one could be lucky to get it, if calling them directly. So the price is potentially a lot cheaper than what it might be.
I bought one additional copy of this wonderful lens, utilizing this wonderful deal.

Is it worth the upgrade from the G1?

Well it depends if you are happy with the G1? I found it to be 1/3 stop sharper meaning at 600 and f6.3 is as good if not better than f7.1 on the G1... AF is a faster, but I never had problems getting shots with the G1. The dock is a huge upgrade as you can fine tune the lens at 5 focal lengths and 3 distances. The VC also is a tad better... There are some other things like locking the lens at any distance and improved tripod collar if that is important to you?

I agree with you that this is a good price. Maybe the TDs are because this lens was a decent amount cheaper a few months back with a SD rebate.
