Amtrak's 2nd Annual "Track Friday" sale is live with discounts of 25-30% on select trains nationwide for travel between December 2017 and March 2018, with limited blackout dates.

The sale is only available at Amtrak.com [amtrak.com], and all prices will be automatically discounted from the standard fare price.

No discount code is needed; prices are as shown.

Sale prices are available exclusively for one-way Coach Class fares and upgrades to Business Class or sleeping accommodations are not permitted. Sale prices are not available at all times and on all routes, including the Acela Express. Once purchased, tickets are non-refundable. Others restrictions may apply.

I checked prices a few days and ago and again today and didn't see any difference in price from SJC to PDX

All the cost associated with air travel, but now with 10-20x more travel time. As a bonus, instead of clouds, you get to see ghetto homes and factories!

Why isn't it LESS expensive to travel by train?
