Updating with new price / deal details. Thanks slay65

"The ThinkPad Yoga 370 is cheaper if you use the 5% off coupon and either the Slickdeal $90 rebate or the Eb12% cash back on the public web site.

$949 - 5% (BFCM5 coupon) = $902 - 12% = $793
$949 - 5% (BFCM5 coupon) = $902 - $90 = $812"

Hey all,

Got a Black Friday email from Lenovo for ThinkPad Doorbusters, however, when I checked 10 minutes ago, the price was even cheaper - maybe short term offer, I'm not sure. The two in particular are the Yoga 370 and X270. They are great ultraportable ThinkPads, and the Yoga 370 is a convertible.

ThinkPad Yoga 370 - 20JH002AUS - $849 - 46% off ($939 this morning)
ThinkPad X270 - 20K6000UUS - $599 - 48% off ($689 earlier)

Its on the Lenovo Barnes & Noble store at:
http://www3.lenovo.com/us/en/barn...20JH002AUS
http://www3.lenovo.com/us/en/barn...20K6000UUS

I use my Hotmail account to get in - so pretty sure anyone can register and get in.

That sounds like a good price on the X270.

Yeah but that's previous gen i5. For 538 u get 1yr wty or 615 with 3yr. Look at other thinkpad thread using this code NJ*PERKSEPP if this was a x1 carbon I'd insist on on-site with accidental protection for plastic coverage and battery replacement.

Had official IBM lenovo on site service few days ago for noisy fan replacement on x1 4th gen. He said x270 is much more durable. And he couldn't count the times where a part shortage affected his on site repair. He said that depot and on site both have same wait period and inventory for parts. So yeah. As a former t430 owner and current x1 4th owner I'd say get the x270. Easier to use on a plane too.

Don't forget about credit card extended warranty as well as price protection. Citi double cash would be good for this as it adds 2yrs on top of existing up to 5yrs. And use a shopping portal too.

You don't need high resolution on a tiny screen like that unless you're doing photography or video editing.

I think the B&N page gives the same discount as the NJPerks store as I saw the other post and compared. Interesting point about the warranty and Citicash - I wonder if it applies if I upgrade the warranty on the Yoga 370 which incidentally what I'm leaning towards buying.

Well I didn't sign up for it just compared specs on post here. Yes it would. Just Google credit card price protection and extended warranty and you'll see what's covered an how much.

Correct. I have a few X240's with 1366x768 that don't bother me. What disappoints me is the non-touchscreen, and what scares me is the TN panel.

The specs for the X270 in the OP are wrong. The X270 has a starting weight of 2.9 pounds, with reviews stating it's closer to 3.1 pounds.

Also, as an X230 owner, and echoing many other Thinkpad owners, Thinkpad quality has really gotten worse. While my X230 has in many ways been a workhouse and I still use it daily, it's the first Thinkpad where I noticed numerous problems: the plastic palmrest cracked easily, the IPS screen suffered from burn in or some other fault (a light blotch the size of a pencil eraser), and the matte black exterior finish on the top of the lid coming off very easily, revealing shiny black plastic beneath (an ugly look that began within the first year or two).

Like many, I only stuck with Thinkpads because of the Trackpoint, but I've finally decided to let go of that preference in looking for my next laptop.

The ThinkPad Yoga 370 is cheaper if you use the 5% off coupon and either the Slickdeal $90 rebate or the Eb12% cash back.

$949 - 5% (BFCM5 coupon) = $902 - 12% = $793.
$949 - 5% (BFCM5 coupon) = $902 - $90 = $812.

Of course with this deal you don't have to deal with the rebate or the cash back..
