Few deals beat the price
NewEgg:
$729 for MSI GL62M
$769 for Acer Aspire 7

And then all the deals at Dell

I've been looking at these ask day and I'd say it's about $150 better than laptops with similar specs.

This is obviously a deal where people were paid to give TU. For 800 on a popular deal I was expecting a 1060. 1050ti laptops ha e been substantially cheaper than this... 😂

I agree with you, I have been looking also for i7 + 16 GB + any SSD, for less than $800, without any gimmicks or card cash. This ASUS is the first one I found with those specs.

I'm not a big fan of the bezel though, so on the fence.

You are obviously not a serious gamer. That is all.
You're right about that. I'm looking for a laptop that will last a long while performance wise and expect maybe slightly better than integrated graphics for photo editing. I suppose I get it with this but then again maybe I'm going over board if I just want a laptop that will not be overtaken in the near future.

If you are only doing photo editing, and not video editing, you'll probably be fine. The rule of thumb really for laptops if you want longevity is buy best one you can afford (budget) with processor and graphics card. You can upgrade memory and swap out HDD/SSD if you need to but you can't replace the GPU or CPU.

Also something to remember is Cyber Monday is coming. Amazon may have other options as well.

i like this one because its lighter, has twice as much ssd capacity, and looks less gamerish.
