Not a good deal in my opinion. Unlocked S8 is available at 575 at BHP, amazon, BB. Also, Discover card nets you 5% cashback on amazon this quarter. This deal is not worth sending our phone for trade in (which anyways they have a very short list of phones eligible for trade in).

Samsung was not giving $150 for the Galaxy S5 series before, it was only $50. Also Samsung Galaxy S8+ is selling at $675 at BB, Amazon which comes out to $740 or so with tax. Unless you really care about that old Galaxy s5 which is probably not even worth $100 anymore, then it probably is a shitty deal.

the deal is bad compared to previous deals, less than a month ago, i could still trade in a phone worth 70 bucks for $300 plus get something free like the wireless charger or some other stuff...

They are offering $400 trade for an s7 on the regular price and even the S7 is worth like $100 trade in. $324 for the s8 is over 50% off and better than the carrier 50% deals with Bill credits

But how do you know Samsung will actually give you the $400 trade in value? They say they will not be returning any devices, seems sketchy to try.

Samsung burnt us with previous trade in. We were supposed to get $200 trade in credit and instead they kept our phone and just have $25 Samsung credit/ gift card.

I've been disapointed in the deals on the newer flagship phones this BF season. There were better deals months ago. I know, I got in on a few of them. I think I paid $505 for my moms S8+ with her S5 trade in to Samdung. Maybe Cyber Monday will be different. To me, so far, the deals on older/lesser phones like the G6 and Motorola's have been decent, but the S8's and V30's are crappier than expected. I can't find a deal on the V30 that doesn't involve buying extra phones, adding lines, and having to hope for a rebate that requires you to buy another high ticket item you don't need. Bummer.

They deduct the $400 up front. I feel this would be a pretty easy CC dispute if they try to play games and charge back. I have the Chase Sapphire Reserve and they seem to be pretty generous for those who dont take advantage. I will be taking pictures of the phone condition and pictures of the box I send it back in etc. I am also sending an S7 - not some bottom feeder phone from Ebay like i have read other people do on some of these.

Agreed that I have heard some weird things about Samsung trade in but getting the $400 off up front gives us the upper hand. If it was $400 pending their review, no chance would I deal with it.

Check out how chase handled that dispute with Samsung recently.
